Sociobiology I

16.1.1998

Dr. Neumann-Held demonstrated the use of two irreducible gene concepts in her re-construction of the socio-biological approach of Dawkins (esp. from “The Selfish Gene” and “Extended Phenotype”): the “biomolecular” concept on the one hand, and the “population genetic” concept on the other. Weaknesses in the model theory of the socio-biological approach were presented (gene models, homonymy problem).

Participants: Dr. Armin Grunwald (Europäische Akademie, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler), Dr. Mathias Gutmann (Europäische Akademie, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler), Dipl.-Biol. Christine Hertler (Frankfurt a. M.), Dr. Eva Neumann-Held (Europäische Akademie, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler), Dipl.-Biol. Claudia Sanides-Kohlrausch (Göttingen), Dr. Michael Weingarten (Institut für Philosophie, Philipps Universität Marburg).
