Information Society and Technology Assessment

23.9.1998

In order to actively shape information society, it is important to provide support and advice regarding foreseeable developments. Keywords in this context are the protection of intellectual property, IT security, confidentiality, and user-friendliness. There is a second category dealing with risks that can be described by the keywords “transparent society”, “two-class society”, and “social alienation”. This expert meeting gave an overview and presentation of TA projects in order to measure the growth of particular trends and carried them over into leading principles categorised by their initial positions, provisos, and impediments. The resulting political, economic, and social remits lead to initial outlines for studies in the field of technology assessment.
